Spring break is in full swing, and with summer vacation around the corner, many will consider buying a boat, jet ski or other watercraft. Whether you are looking at purchasing for the first time, or just want to make sure that your coverage is where it needs to be before taking to the water.
Here are five tips from SIG Insurance of Florida.
1. Take a Boating Safety Course- ?Similar to a safe driver course, boating safety courses come with a discount on most policies, and the peace of mind that you are practicing safety while on the water, ?says SIG President, Walter Page.
2. Don?t make the assumption that homeowners? insurance covers your boat. Besides, boating comes with a higher risk and danger.
3. Know your coverage- It?s important to know what is covered under your policy. For instance, make sure that other uh ohs! are covered such as towing, personal effects, and even fishing tackle.
4. Know your agreed value, actual cash value or replacement cost.
5. Reach out to a local insurance agent.? SIG cautions against jumping on the same insurance carrier that is carrying policies on your Florida auto or homeowners? insurance.
