Local sports roundup: Pacific Grove baseball team tops Soledad

Pacific Grove starting pitcher Conyal Cody allowed only one hit as the Breakers beat Soledad to improve to 24-0 on the season.

Pacific Grove pitcher Conyal Cody threw a one-hit shutout as the Breakers beat Soledad 4-0 on Monday to finish the season sweep.

Pacific Grove is now 24-0 overall and 15-0 in the Mission Trail Athletic League. With three games left in the regular season, Breakers have clinched the league title over the second-place Aztecs.

Cody had a pair of doubles and two RBIs for Pacific Grove while Dan Burschinger had a double and drove in a run.

Andy Sanchez pitched a complete game for Soledad (20-4, 11-4), allowing seven hits. Aaron Rivera had the Aztecs' only hit.

Pacific Grove has now won 31 games in a row dating back to 2012.

Carmel 16, King City 2

Traven Tapson had four hits as the Padres topped the Mustangs.

William Kehoe had three hits, Scott Robleski had four RBIs and Dom Bifano, Kenny Nava and Bryson Lino all had two hits each for Carmel (9-6, 13-10). Mason Braun threw a complete game to earn the win.

Thomas Lynch had a pair of hits for King City.

Stevenson 15, Gonzales 4

Chandler Bluhm went 3-for-3 with four RBIs as the Pirates beat the host Spartans.

Nick Chancellor went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Galen Manhard was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs driven in, Paul Edwards went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Brad Powers was 2-for-3 for Stevenson (13-8, 7-7).

Rhett Panziera went 2-for-3 with a double for Gonzales.

GIRLS LACROSSE

York 10, Stevenson 8

Itana Avdalovic scored six goals as the Falcons beat the Pirates.

Christina Cobb added three goals and an assist while Mara Awerbuck also scored for York. Emma Morgan was among Stevenson's scorers.

BOYS LACROSSE

St. Francis 13, Palma 3

Ricky Castro had two goals and Rishay Patel also scored, but the Chieftains lost.

VOLLEYBALL

Seaside 3, Carmel 0

lfonso Meza had 11 kills and nine blocks as the Spartans beat the host Padres.

Colby Ostberg recorded 21 assists and four blocks, while Rodolfo Co had 17 digs for Seaside (14-11, 9-7).
