Bringing your Cell Phone Horror Stories to the CRTC | OpenMedia.ca

Earlier this year you sent us your cell phone horror stories. Today, using your stories, we brought a citizen-oriented perspective, grounded in Canadians' lived realities, to the CRTC national cell phone rules hearing. You also deserve to give yourselves high-fives for causing the defeat of the online spying bill c-30. Let's continue working for an open, free, and secure Internet - onward!

OpenMedia.ca communications manager Lindsey Pinto presented to the CRTC at the national cell phone rules hearing in Ottawa today, reading out selected 'cell phone horror stories' from Canadians about their mobile phone service.

OpenMedia.ca, an advocacy group for open internet, has for years led the fight for more choice, fairness and competitiveness in Canada's telecom market. Canadians pay on average a far higher rate for cell phone service than is standard in other countries in the world: stories of a $35 phone/month phone plan that turned out to be far higher abound in the country, due to the lack of competition in Canada's market. Nearly 3,000 people submitted their stories to OpenMedia to share their negative expriences with cell phone service providers. Read more ?
