Former Bayern Munich coach Felix Magath has predicted a season "low on excitement" with the Bundesliga champions expected to march unchallenged to a second straight title.

Bayern swept the board last season, winning a Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League treble - and their form in the pre-season Telekom Cup tournament at the weekend means it is hard to see beyond them for silverware in 2014.

In new coach Pep Guardiola's two first serious friendly games in charge, Bayern dismantled Hamburg 4-0 and Borussia Monchengladbach 5-1 - with both games being played over just an hour.

Not only those results indicate another season of superlatives for the record German champions.

"Certainly not too much should be read into friendly results, but anybody looking at the condition Bayern are in has got to expect a season which will be low on excitement in terms of the title," he said on his Facebook page.

"Bayern have pulled even further away from the competition and you can hardly talk of any serious rival."

Bayern clinched the Bundesliga in record time last season, ending the campaign with a 25-point cushion over second-placed Borussia Dortmund.

They have strengthened this summer with the arrivals of Mario Gotze from Dortmund and Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona and will fancy their chances of becoming the first to defend their Champions League title successfully.
