JUBA, South Sudan (AP) ? South Sudan's president says he wants to form an inclusive government after firing his vice president and dismissing his entire cabinet last week.
Salva Kiir said Monday that he is consulting leaders of different political parties before announcing a new cabinet. On Saturday Kirr appointed his former government spokesman as his foreign minister, the only appointment made so far.
The recent government shake-up in Africa's newest country followed reports of a power struggle within the ruling SPLM party, especially between Kiir and former Vice President Riek Macher.
Both Macher and the dismissed leader of the ruling party, Pagan Amum, have expressed interest in running for president in South Sudan's 2015 election.
Kiir on Monday lashed out at his political opponents, saying that now "is not the time for campaigns."
